Good Friday

"I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly...

I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd....

For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again; this charge I have received from my Father." John 10:9,10,14-18

"And they brought him to the place called Gol'gotha (which means the place of a skull)." Mark 15:22

Golgotha is from the old testament Aramaic word gulgoleth meaning head count, census or poll, hence the word "skull".  It was used when individuals from a nation were to be numbered and counted.  How fitting that Jesus was crucified on a hill that all mankind might be taken into account.

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his

wounds we are healed."

Isaiah 53:5

Thank you Jesus for saving me.  Thank you Jesus for healing me by your blood.  Thank you Jesus for forgetting all my sin.  Thank you Jesus for giving me a new life. Thank you Jesus for the cross.
